Project 2: Son of a Glitch!

Statement:

This project deals with themes of temporality, society, and identity. In order to express these themes, I have chosen to merge vintage or archival materials with modern glitch technique in order to subvert common conceptions images as static in time. My images blend old and new in order to demonstrate the way society has changed in some ways and stagnated in others. My images also deal with personal identity. I have obscured the eyes of nearly all the figures in my works in order to connect these vintage images with modern notions of data privacy, and internet anonymity. These images are intended to show how far we have come and how little we have changed. My video is a collection of archival video and audio samples randomly mixed in order to create interesting connections. The video addresses many issues of our modern day through the use of archival video, such as feminist issues and the pandemic.
