Hi there! I'm Zach. I have been making art my entire life!
I have always had a passion for art making, and digital art is one of my favorite ways to express myself. I got into digital art in a couple ways. One of my favorite hobbies as a kid was to put together little Claymation animations. I would pose and bend my action figures and create fun stop motion fight scenes. I found editing and digitally manipulating my animations helped open the door to digital art.
I also taught myself computer editing software like photoshop and illustrator. I use these tools to help make posters for friends’ events, and further my artistic career. I am currently a student developing my artistic techniques, and my style tends to fluctuate over time. I am very compelled by the pop art movement, Dadaism, comic book and cartoon art, and impressionism. My goal as an artist Is to create works which spark joy in the viewer, with vibrant colors and compelling compositions. I want my works to channel a childlike wonder, or play, which I believe makes works more accessible to a wider audience. Lately, I have become very interested in oil paint portraiture, which allows me to create unique brush patterns and practice painting the human form.
Most frequently I draw characters with chisel markers, because I am really interested in the graffiti-esque look chiseled markers can give off.
Graffiti has always fascinated me because I am more attracted to art which looks like it comes from an emotional or expressive place over works which display a strong technical ability, yet lack personality. Some artists which inspire me include Cindy Sherman, Keith Haring, Wilfred Wood, and Chaz Bundick.
Below is one of my latest animation projects.
Love,
Zach
